As a Ford150 truck owner I’ve made some changes to my truck that have significantly improved the performance of my truck. Throughout this guide, I’ll share my experience and improvements I’ve made to my truck. I’ll cover different options for you as you search to customize your truck, specifically covering truck exhaust systems. Truck exhaust systems are commonly called high-performance exhausts, high-flow exhaust systems, custom exhaust’s and of course cat-back exhaust’s.

High end truck exhaust systems will make an immediate change to your vehicle and to your image. Your new exhaust system will add a beautiful sound that every truck owner wants to hear from their engine. It’s the type of sound that prr’s as you drive by and I sure love the way my engine prr’s!

When you’re shopping you’ll come across a huge selection of truck exhaust systems. There are definitely many options to choose from without spending a fortune. Expect to pay $600-$1,000 for a quality system.

There are four different styles of truck exhaust systems. They’re referred to as single-side exit, dual-side exit, dual-rear exit and extreme dual exit. This refers to the amount of pipes are attached to your motor to vent the exhaust gases out of your truck. Single-side exit has one pipe and the dual-side exits have two pipes, but are usually more expensive.

Once you know what you’re looking for, then it’s time to select a brand. I chose to go with a Magnaflow exhaust system for my truck. This is definitely one of the best brands to choose from. They make great exhaust systems for diesel trucks, Suv’s and even off-road trucks. This product will last for years and they guarantee this with their lifetime warranty. It’s easy to install as the bolts fit right onto my F150. The tone from Magnaflows exhaust is usually described as a deep tone. It just screams power!

Another great brand is SLP. They’re very comparable to Magnaflow’s truck exhaust systems in performance and in price. The major difference with SLP truck exhaust systems is they’re a bit louder. If you’re looking for a more powerful sound from your truck, then SLP is made for you. Some are extremely loud and since ordinances are different in each state, make sure to check this out before your installation.

If you still have some money left in the piggy bank to spend on your truck, adding an intake or tuner will increase the performance of your truck even more. I would upgrade the exhaust system, before you go for the intake or tuner.

There are many different brands of intakes to choose from. I always recommend Airraid, Volant or True Flow. The effects of a custom intake will instantly be noticed, especially after combined with your truck exhaust system. You’ll improve your gas mileage and overall performance. It will also help the lifetime of your filter, which will come with your new air intake.

One of the important things to look for in your intake is the air filter it will come with. Make sure it can hold dirt, especially if you’re into off-roading. Many of them are made from foam, which can be washed and used many times.

Hopefully this will help you when you’re searching for your truck exhaust systems in the future. Enjoy the power and the new sound of your truck!

A free guideline to provide you with all the details needed when shopping for your new diesel exhaust system.

There are many different types of diesel exhaust systems that can really help improve your diesel vehicle. Throughout this guide I’ll point out some of the more important features to look for while you’re searching for your new exhaust system.

The first thing to look for is the size of the exhaust. You’re most likely searching for a new exhaust system for your diesel truck. First thing you should look for is the size of the exhaust pipes and I always recommend going with either 4” or 5”. They should also be an aluminized exhaust. The tubing is another important element when shopping for your diesel exhaust systems. The tubing is typically manufactured with 15 or 16 gauge and make sure this is also aluminized.

Most of these products are typically made in Asia or outside the United States. Some of the best products I’ve come across throughout my years working with diesel exhausts have been manufactured right here in the states.

Since you’re probably looking to increase the performance of your vehicle I always recommend looking for a system that is mandrel bent. This will improve performance for your vehicle by guaranteeing a very minimal amount of restriction.

It’s extremely important that your diesel exhaust system helps lower the temperature of the gas. Expect the gas temperatures to drop up to 300 degrees Fahrenheit. At the same time the gas temperature is dropping, this will increase the speed for your turbo chargers to spool up. One of my favorite features of an improved exhaust system!

Everybody has drives differently. Some spend more time on the highway, which is obviously more efficient on our vehicles gas tanks and some spend more time on local roads. Some drive fast and like to test the engine and some like to enjoy a nice ride! Well the good news is no matter how you drive; when you purchase a quality diesel exhaust system your fuel intake should improve a noticeable amount. You should end up with about an extra three to five miles per gallon. Add that up over time and that’s a lot of miles!!

If you’re the type who is looking to increase speed of your vehicle, your new exhaust system will definitely help you here. Unfortunately, I can’t give you an exact number of horse-power to expect since this will vary. It changes for each car and so does the torque. You’ll also increase the torque of your vehicle.

Diesel exhaust systems are most effective when they’re installed with injector modifications. If you want to take it another step, combine the injector modifications with computer work and a high end diesel exhaust system.

There are many options when searching for your new exhaust system, so please shop around before making a purchase. Make sure to look for the things I’ve mentioned in this article as this is an investment you won’t want to have to make for years ahead. Remember, you can take this off your vehicle when you sell it or when your lease expires or sell it with your car at a higher value.

Once you’ve made your selection get ready to install the new diesel exhaust system. It can be done on your own, but if you’re not a handy person, then you’re much better off getting it done by a professional. I hope this guide helped you with your search and please drive safe!

If you’re looking to improve the performance of your car, you’ve come to the right place. I’ll discuss the first step in improving your cars performance, which should always be the addition of a high performance exhaust. I always recommend improving the performance, before the aesthetics. There’s nothing like the sound of a powerful brand new high performance exhaust.

There are plenty of differences between a stock exhaust system and a custom exhaust system. I see the exhaust in the same way I see a humans lungs. If a human is in extremely good shape, let’s say an athlete, they’ll be able to breathe more efficiently when performing during a game. That’s the same goal of a high performance exhaust. Since it’s improving the exhaust flow from your engine, the breathing is more efficient which creates more power and torque. Besides the increase in power, the end result is also a beautiful sound as well.

There’s a huge selection of high performance exhaust systems on the market. It can be an extremely over-whelming task choosing the right brand or style. Let’s discuss some different options for you!

There are two types of exhaust systems to choose from when you’re adding an aftermarket exhaust system. One is called a cat-back exhaust system and this is more common of the two styles. The name cat-back comes from catalytic converter; the converter is where the chemicals and gas are located before they enter the muffler. This is usually made out of stainless steel and is bigger than you’re typical stock model, which creates more air room when using a custom exhaust. If you have a high performance exhaust, expect to gain at least 10-20 horsepower. The sound of the engine will be noticeable from a cat-back exhaust as well. Another great benefit is that you’ll start to save some money on gas. The emission system becomes more efficient, which will mean less gas necessary.

The other type of high performance exhaust is called an axle-back exhaust. It’s the same concept as a cat-back, but axle-back is even better. The main difference is that the manifold in the exhaust to the muffler (everything in between) is changed. It’s usually a stainless steel manifold which allows for even more breathing room from the engine to the muffler. This creates more horsepower than a cat-back exhaust and your car will also become more efficient for using gas usage. The noise is lovely on an axle-back exhaust system and you’ll be noticed in your car right away!

Once you’ve decided on the type of style exhaust you prefer, then you need to figure out the right brand. I have a diesel truck, so I’ve added a magnaglow diesel exhaust to my truck, but here’s a list of the top rated exhaust systems. For starters, check out Flowmaster, Magnaflow, Borla, Gibson and Dynomax exhaust systems. You really can’t go wrong with any of those.

Good luck in your search for you new high performance exhaust. Once you’ve made this change, you’ll regret that you didn’t sooner!

If you’re looking to maximize the performance of your vehicle then an exhaust system is the first thing you need to upgrade. After reading through this section, you’ll know exactly what to look for and understand how a dual exhaust system functions.

Dual exhaust systems are definitely the most aggressive looking of all the different options out there. You’ll often see the dual style on powerful cars, such as hotrods, trucks and high end sports cars. The main difference between a dual exhaust when compared to a single exhaust system is the system has less restriction and is a bit louder as well.

The first type of dual exhaust system is the traditional dual exhaust system. This type has all the same features a cat-back system has. The exit pipes can come in different styles. Some choose to have them exit from the rear of the car, which is the more traditional style. A more unique way for the pipes to exit the vehicle is from the side, known as a dual outside configuration. It’s all a matter of style as the end result is exactly the same when it comes to performance.

Then there’s the dual side exit exhaust system which has two exit pipes as well. In fact, all dual systems will have two exit pipes. These pipes are located behind the tires, but on the same side of the car. They pipes are always on the passenger side when a dual side exit exhaust system is installed.

The next type of exhaust system sounds similar to the last, but it’s different. Don’t be mistaken by their similarity in name. This is called the dual rear exit exhaust system. In this type of dual exhaust system, the pipes are going to come out from just under the bumper. Instead of coming out from the sides of the tires, this is the type that look more like a rocket ship! In my opinion, this is the nicest looking, but it’s all a matter of opinion. At least on sports cars or trucks, this is the way I would go.

Now we have the most unique type, which is some what of a combination of all the above previously mentioned. It’s called an opposite side dual exhaust system also known as an extreme dual kit. It’s a dual exhaust system with a rear exit but the main difference between this and a standard rear exit is these pipes wrap around each wheel in the back of the car. The reason the pipes wrap around and out the side of the tire is to protect the pipes, most often for people who tow from a hitch on the back of the car. Whether it’s a boat or any sort of trailer, nobody wants the gases coming from the pipes to breathe all over your boat or trailer. So this problem was solved when the extreme dual exit exhaust system was created.

Hopefully you’re now prepared to make a decision in the type of dual exhaust system you’re looking for. It’s hard to go wrong with any of the styles mentioned above since they’ll all be big upgrades over the stock exhaust your car comes with. Good luck and enjoy!

In this guide I’m going to discuss everything you need to know about a car exhaust system. If you’re looking to improve the performance of you’re car, an exhaust system is one of the first upgrades you should make.

Let’s first discuss what a car exhaust system is. Its main function is to get rid of the gases that are created from the fuel and the air. The process of the fuel and air burning takes place in the combustion chamber. They’re bad for the environment as well as poisonous to humans.

In order to maintain a safe car, I always advise to occasionally inspect your cars exhaust system. I recently had a vehicle that had a diesel exhaust system and I found a small hole in the exhaust. This allows the fumes to exit and can cause problems.

There are several parts that make up your car exhaust system and each have a different job. First is the exhaust manifold which is connected to the cylinder and combines the exhaust into one pipe. It’s usually made out of cast iron. Then there’s the oxygen sensor. This is more of a modern invention and a lot of the older cars don’t have this. This sensor detects the amount of oxygen in the car exhaust system. If it’s off, the computer system will correct this issue with adding or subtracting fuel for the best fuel economy. The catalytic converter takes the poisonous carbon monoxide and other carbons to less harmful chemicals. It converts it to water vapor and carbon dioxide. Without the muffler, our vehicles would be extremely noisy. This is where the muffler kicks in and tones the noise of the exhaust system to a normal level. Then there’s the exhaust pipe. These pipes are responsible for leading the gas out of the tail pipe.

Now that we know what an exhaust system is and made up of, I want to share some of the improvements a high performance or diesel exhaust system will do for you. When these vehicles are made, they can always be made a bit better! The manufacturers definitely leave some room for car lovers to improve their cars, especially the horsepower and torque. The reason there’s some room for improvement is because these car companies use cheaper options when producing the car exhaust system.

The main benefit of a performance exhaust system is that it will improve the rate the exhaust gases getaway from the car. What this means is that the fuel already used and the air leave the chambers quicker and the combination of new fuel with the air are burned which creates more power.

A stock exhaust system will usually use different pipes than a high performance exhaust. The stock exhaust usually will have bends in the pipes which slows down the process. The high performance system will have smooth pipes, known as a mandrel bend which won’t affect the gas flow in a negative way.

In addition to performance, you’ll notice a new sound from your high performance car exhaust system. The engine will sound more aggressive with a deeper tone; one of those engines that prr!

I hope this guide has helped you in your research for your new car exhaust system. You’ll love everything about it once it’s installed and on the road!
